Fr. Terry's Blog

Fr Terry Burke had a shared relationship with our parish community for many years, whilst he was the Catholic Chaplain at Reading University. In the last few months before taking his sabbatical and leaving us he wrote many thoughts of the week for the Chaplaincy, many of which also appeared in our newsletter.

We have collected some of these for posterity as they often have poignant aspects ... View

Fortunately we now have the internet and email and so keep in contact with him, on other pages you will read of the money raised for his causes in Asia during the year and what was done with it. Here though are his thoughts on various subjects since being in Bali:

Being willing to try

Right or Wrong?

We are family, but a very human one

On being wanted.

There is no "Why?"

What you hear whispered in the dark

Listen to my words.

The courage to be

Listen to the spirit.

Pushing back the boundaries.

And you shall renew the face of the earth

Commitment.

The gift of new life.

At home in Galilee.

The loneliness of sin.

On the need to forgive God.

Unless the Lord builds the house...

And the word was made...

And what of me?

On saints and sinners.

Do you know how to eat this?

The road to Emmaus.

Gathering the pieces

My Uncle John.

On enjoying being a martyr

Take your medicine.

The source of our loving

On venturing out.

And I went Vietnam...

When a rosary doesn't help.

John's Bedroom

Do what you say!

Kites of Bali

The power of a word

On Bigotry

On stories and texts.

The Bali International Catholic Chaplaincy

Shall I compare thee to a ...

On motorbikes and Popes.

Grasp the moment.

On nuisance dogs and others.

On a drop of wine.

To know him in darkness.

But Father, what do we say.

Flowers that Eden never knew.

On getting down on my knees

I have taken up Sudoku

How hard it is to...

A Deadly Look - a saving look

On forgiveness
