Veni Sancte Spiritus, veni per Mariam! Come Holy Spirit, come through Mary!

On Friday 14th May, we are starting the Novena to the Holy Spirit. All the days altogether, and each one of them, matters and is marked by grace, shaping our disposition. The Novena enters us into the reality of the supernatural life. It indeed charms our minds and also our vision, hearing, fragrance, taste and touch beyond what earth can give.

There is a special grace of this novena as there the Holy Spirit scatters the darkness of hidden and open ungodliness spread in us and over the earth; He softens our stubbornness and teaches us the whole and entire truth to elevate us to God. This is the novena directly chosen and pointed out by the Lord. During this time, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles, bringing joy. Then, wrapped in His Flame, the fishermen called the whole world into the Church. Till now their divine praise is spread and echoes in the world, directly bringing life and shaping the teaching of the Church.    

Importantly, there is a special link between the novena and Mary, between the Holy Spirit and Mary. If She were not in the Upper Room on the Pentecost Day, the Holy Spirit would not come. The Holy Spirit formed the Immaculate Heart of Mary to be His icon. The human face of the Holy Spirit is Mary, in its tenderness, gentleness and sweet freshness of those who suffer under the weight of burdens.
 
As Holy Spirit only comes through Mary, let us pray daily: Come Holy Spirit, come through Mary!
